Circus Futures is partnering with Circus City 2017 to deliver a number of activities within the framework of the Festival. These include performances by CircusNext artists as part of the European Season of Circus Arts and opportunities to debate and discuss issues related to circus. Circus Futures Symposium
“Supporting the Creation of Work of Quality within the Field of Circus”
Thursday 19th October Colston Hall, Bristol/UK. Facilitated by Orit Azaz
Circus Futures presents the next in the series of national debates about the creation of work of quality, here and abroad. Following on from previous sold-out events, this is a facilitated day of discussion, sharing of best practice, future forecasting about the impact of issues such as Brexit, catching up on European initiatives, talking about the celebrations taking place in 2018 for the anniversary of 250 years of circus, and a great place to meet new potential working partners. The event is aimed at artists, programmers, policy makers and others working at a professional level in circus. Runs 10am (registration) for a 10.30am start through to 5pm. There is an option for delegates to see CircusNext European Season of Circus Arts Shows on and around this date.

Circus Futures “In Conversation” Events
Friday 20th October Colston Hall, Bristol/UK
Circus Futures is also presenting two events in Bristol/UK for professionals on Friday 20th October 2017
On Friday 20th October 2017 between 11am and 1pm there will be a panel debate featuring artists who have been in receipt of bespoke assistance to support their development through Circus Futures and other initiatives
On Friday 20th October 2017 between 4pm and 6pm there will be a presentation about the last four years of the CircusNext commissioning process which will also include details about the next support elements available presented within the Creative Europe Platforms programme.
Delegates are also invited to attend the invite-only performance by Squarehead Productions/ Darragh McLoughlin (IE) CircusNext 2013-2014 Laureate on Friday 20th October 2017 at 3.25pm. This event is also at Colston Hall. This show runs for 30 minutes and is suitable for ages 10 years+.
Delegates are invited to attend the ticked performance by Ilona Jäntti and Aino Venna at 7.00pm on Friday 20th October 2017 and free tickets will be provided. This event is at Bristol Old Vic. Ilona Jäntti (FL) was a CircusNext 2013-2014 Pre-selected Artist. This show runs for 60 minutes and is suitable for ages 12 years+.
