LAST EVENTS OF THE FESTIVAL

With just a few days left of Circus City 2017, our programme is ramping up rather than winding down! There are still some great shows to see including Tipping Point, Flaque and Circus Shorts. Read on for more…

AROUND

Around is a fun, tender show about the life of a circus troupe as they overcome hardship through collaboration and cooperation. This playful performance mixes circus skills old and new: juggling, acrobatics, hula hooping, mime, clownery, blowing bubbles and breakdancing! “Gentle, engaging and delightful throughout, Around is perfectly-pitched children’s theatre.” – The Reviews Hub

11:00 and 14:00 (27 + 28 Oct). Tickets £9/£32 (family deal)/ Children under 2 go free!

TIPPING POINT

Five performers held within the light of a circular stage begin to play, transforming seemingly simple metal poles into a rich landscape of images, catching the imagination as they build a world before your eyes. Tipping Point is daring work from Ockham’s Razor – the UK’s premier aerial theatre company. A feast of high risk brilliance performed with grace and power.

20:00 on Friday 27th (SOLD OUT) and Saturday 28th October (14:00 matinee on the 28th). Tickets from £10.

MARVELLOUS

Invisible Youth

Invisible Youth invite you to experience a social circus performance, group-devised over five afternoons by the young people from Felix Road Adventure Playground in Easton, assisted by professional circus practitioners from Invisible Youth.

17:30 Friday 27th and Saturday 28th October (13:00 on Saturday). Tickets by donation.

CIRCUS SHORTS

A fantastic chance to see emerging work by a range of artists working with circus. An evening full of new ideas, different approaches and experimental skills served up fresh for your enjoyment. This is an opportunity to see the very latest acts being worked on by the incredible wealth of talent that lives and works in Bristol. Circomedia joins forces with Circus City to present this series of short circus pieces at the Trinity Arts Centre.

19:00 Friday 27th October. Tickets from £10.

FLAQUE

To mark the last show in this year’s festival the promoter for Compagnie Defracto – Circus Futures – is getting the drinks in! Just quote Circus Futures at the Unit 15 bar to redeem this offer.

Flaque is a witty and deadpan expression of Cie deFracto’s passion for juggling. In every moment they are working with it as a kind of physical music driven by rhythm combined with dance and absurd humour.

Their bodies drop more often than the objects do and the desire to catch is the impulse behind every action. Their movements are precise, flexible and display dazzling vitality.

This is juggling as it should be: challenging, fresh, raw and full of finesse.

Sunday, October 29th, 17:30. Unit 15. Tickets from £7

SQUEEZY GREEN’S COMPENDIUM OF GAMES

Squeezy Green's Compendium of Games

Finishing our half-term shows off in style – this special edition of Squeezy Green’s will feature mystery guest local circus legends.

Squeezy has run plenty of game shows before but now they are throwing circus skills into the mix, so prepare for the unexpected!

This will be a somersaulting big top of an afternoon, with games you wouldn’t necessarily be allowed to play at home. So roll up, roll up: thrills, spills and more fun than you could pack into a popcorn stand.

Sunday, October 29th, 15:00. The Wardrobe Theatre. Tickets from £6.
