Armour // Arno Ferrera & Gilles Polet (BE)

Armour explores issues of masculinity and virility, with the desire to offer a different perspective.

Drawing from the choreography of wrestlers and gladiators, three performers navigate and dissolve obstacles to connection and vulnerability. The audience surrounds them in a circle, close enough to witness moments of deep intimacy unfold.

Through dance, balance and hand-to-hand acrobatics, they shift between power and tenderness, play and seduction. What emerges is a representation of a love that is free and generous, universal and plural, in a joyful complicity with the audience.

“To know love, men must be able to let go the will to dominate. They must be able to choose life over death”
– Bell hooks

Arno Ferrera and Gilles Polet first worked together in 2021 on Cuir, a duet created by the company Un loup pour l’homme, which challenged traditional ideas of masculinity. With Armour -produced by the cultural centre Les Halles de Schaerbeek in Brussels- they continue that journey, pushing further into the theme by developing a raw, physical language shaped by effort, intimacy, and endurance.
