For 10 years, Circus City has brought world-class contemporary circus to Bristol — transforming spaces, challenging expectations, and creating unforgettable shared experiences full of joy, risk and play.
Now we’re looking ahead.
We have a bold vision for the next 10 years: a more inclusive, accessible and sustainable future for circus in Bristol and beyond. We’re committed to more diverse artists, teams and audiences, better access and sliding scale ticketing, and events that reach far beyond the city centre. Artist support will run year-round, encouraging bold experimentation and new connections. We’ll continue to bring world-class circus to Bristol’s stages and streets, while creating new ways for local and national work to reach global audiences.
October 2025 marked our 6th biennial festival; Circus City: Bodies of Care. Our theme centred on health, wellbeing and social justice with a programme of dynamic highly physical work including aerial explorations of black health care, a sensual acrobatic challenge to toxic masculinity and a bike duet about body image. Audience feedback included “important culturally and globally”, “deeply moving”, “wonderfully loving and connected”, “visually breathtaking” to “joyous”, Life affirming” and “sublime”. We engaged 4800+ with 22 shows, public workshops, talks and exhibitions.
